Research Analyst
Description
Cleanview is seeking an experienced research analyst to help improve and maintain a comprehensive database of clean energy projects across America. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with renewable energy and a strong background in research and operations.
This is a contract role to start with an opportunity to join full time if the initial project goes well. We're looking for someone who is interested in working with our company beyond this initial project. Our goal is to find someone who can work with us on retainer for a set number of hours per week (ideally 20+).
There is also significant opportunity for growth given that our company is growing fast and this research is an essential part of our product. In the future we envision the person we hire overseeing other researchers' work and helping develop our processes and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Audit and verify developer information for ~750 planned solar, wind, and battery storage projects
- Research and identify parent companies/developers of project-specific LLCs
- Validate developer information through multiple reliable sources
- Document references and sources for each verification
- Identify and add missing projects from developer portfolios
- Maintain consistent naming conventions across the database
- Suggest process improvements based on research findings
Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years of experience in research/analyst roles
- Strong attention to detail and ability to validate data across multiple sources
- Experience doing research based on government filings and documentation (SEC, FERC, etc.)
- Strong communication skills
- Comfortable working independently and proposing process improvements
Ideal Experience (Not Required)
- Previous experience with renewable energy projects
- Familiarity with energy regulatory filings
- Experience with data enrichment and validation projects
- Background in identifying corporate ownership structures
- Excellent documentation skills
Project Scope: Initial Phase (1-2 weeks, full-time)
- Audit existing database of ~750 planned projects (time estimate: 20-30 hours)
- Add links to where developer information was found and tag it with proper category reference
Ongoing Work (if initial phase is successful)
- Enrich ~200-1,000 new projects monthly
- Add additional data sources and documentation
- Expand research to new territories and project types
- Help us develop systems and processes to scale our research
Rate
We’re open to many different levels of work experience for this role. And we’re willing to hire from any part of the country or the world. The hourly rate for this project will be $15-25 per hour depending on a candidate's relevant experience and location.
